The bass end of a mix is often the hardest thing to get right when it comes to creating a sound that is balanced but still packs a punch. The first hurdle is creating a bass noise (be it electronic or acoustic) that sounds good. The second is processing it so that it remains weighty without overpowering the rest of the mix, or, in other scenarios, making sure it is loud enough.
