If you’re not a solo instrumentalist or in a band, playing live music will always be a bit tricky. For many people in this situation, becoming a DJ has often been seen as the way to get into live performance. But given that most DJs play other people’s music, it’s perhaps not the best means by which to get noticed as a musician.
