Reason 3.0 Workshop Reason's Built-in Synths
Reason’s synth modules can be used to generate some unique and interesting sounds – once you know your way around them. Hollin Jones explains.

Reason was the first piece of music-production software to embrace the concept of an almost totally self-contained set of sound-generating tools. Others, like Cubase and Logic, use plug-ins, enabling you to add as many as you want – an approach that has both its downsides and advantages. While Reason has some fine samplers and loop players that can load audio files, the synths that you get are more flexible and powerful than you may have realised. And now that the Combinator is part of the package, there’s a whole new dimension to using the Subtractor and Malström.
