Reason 4 Workshop - Creative ReDrum
If you want to create your own beats but you’re struggling to find inspiration, Reason’s ReDrum module could save the day. Hollin Jones explains all...

The ReDrum is perhaps the unsung hero of Reason. Present since the program’s first incarnation, it simplifies the process of building and programming drum kits in a way that seems obvious once you’ve used it, but it’s a way that few other products manage to pull off quite so well. Instruments such as Battery and Kontakt offer a huge depth of sample-editing and mangling features, but these go beyond what many users need for everyday music making. The drum ReFills that Propellerhead is steadily releasing offer much more in-depth tweaking of parameters such as mic type and position, but they tend to involve quite complex Combinator patches. For many people, then, the ReDrum is more than enough for making beats.
