Reason 4 Workshop - Multi-Instruments
If you’re tired of your Reason modules, help is at hand. Hollin Jones shows you how the Combinator can breathe new life into your tracks and performances.

ReFills now typically include patches in Combinator format, as well as in simpler versions for use with other modules, too. This is because the Combinator is a remarkably clever concept – it’s not in itself an instrument, rather, it is a kind of ‘wrapper’ that enables you to build mini racks or chains of other modules within Reason’s primary Rack. As such, it is particularly adept at hosting multi-instruments, incorporating split and layered sounds and effects. Splits tend to be more useful for playing live, giving you control over multiple modules from a single keyboard. What’s more, its layered patches, in addition to sounding great live, offer you access to massive sounds within recording projects.
