Antares Auto-Tune efx

Not every singer is pitch-perfect, but technology can come to the rescue. Hollin Jones road tests Antares’ Auto-Tune efx.

Price: £100.00

Auto-tuning is something that divides opinion among producers and musicians. Those who we might call traditionalists often argue that it is akin to cheating, for others, working in commercial studios or making certain kinds of electronic music, it is a reality of life that not every singer is supremely talented or that there’s not always time to do multiple takes. Some club-oriented styles require vocal lines that are so perfect they actually sound a little artificial – and that’s when auto-tuning comes in.

Score: 8
