Mark Of The Unicorn Digital Performer 5

MOTU’s award-winning software sequencer has undergone a major upgrade and now boasts half a dozen new virtual instruments. Keith Gemmell inspects his six-pack...

Price: £395.00
Manufacturer: Mark Of The Unicorn

MOTU has been updating Digital Performer since its first release in the mid- 1980s, but it has only just reached version 5. We can only speculate, but the reason for the infrequent updates may be MOTU’s policy of streamlining its software as opposed to tinkering and adding superfluous features. As a consequence, Digital Performer is regarded by many US composers and audio pros as a lean and elegant production suite. Here in the UK, the program is less well-known and tends to be overshadowed by that other Mac-only DAW – Logic Pro. But with a considerably lower price tag, six new instruments and other significant enhancements, is Digital Performer now a serious alternative to Logic Pro?

Score: 9
