Digidesign Pro Tools 7 LE

Pro Tools, the original DAW par excellence, appears in its seventh incarnation. Mark Cousins finds out what the latest version has to offer.

Price: £45.00
Manufacturer: Digidesign
Website: http://www.digidesign.com

If there was one application that could lay claim to being the modern-day replacement to the multitrack tape machine, it would have to be Pro Tools. While other audio sequencers attempt to be ‘jacks of all trades’, Pro Tools has earned its reputation through being a solid and dependable part of the studio and an essential ally in the process of recording and mixing. Unlike applications like Cubase SX and Logic Pro (which started as MIDI sequencers with audio added at a later date) Pro Tools was born and bred as a computer-based solution for recording and mixing audio – staple tasks of any professional recording facility.

Score: 9
