M-Audio has a history of making audio and MIDI interfaces that focus on affordability as well as flexibility and were among the first to fully embrace USB and FireWire as connectivity protocols for music production. Situated towards the upper end of its audio interface product range is the ProFire 2626, a 26x26 I/O Mac- and PC-compatible device housed in a rugged 1U case.
