The SE1000a has replaced the short-lived Mini as the company’s entry-level condenser. Huw Price tries it out.

The SE1000a is SE’s most affordable condenser mic and it’s designed for studio vocals and instrument recording. If it looks familiar, that’s because it’s the analogue-only ‘sister product’ to the USB1000a. It might look like a large-capsule condenser, but some might classify the onboard 1/2-inch gold-sputtered capsule as medium or even small.
